RIKILT Institute of Food Safety, part of the Stichting Dienst Landbouwkundig Onderzoek (DLO), is an independent institute that carries out legislative and policy-supporting tasks for the Dutch government and international bodies with regard to the safety, health and quality of agricultural and horticultural produce. At RIKILT the chemical, biochemical and microbial quality of feeds and foods such as feed ingredients, compound fodders, dairy products, fruits, vegetables and meat is ascertained with a multidisciplinary approach. Prohibited substances such as growth hormones, residues of veterinary drugs, animal proteins, pesticides and environmental contaminants are measured, to determine whether they met statutory limits or company standards. Therefore, the institute has high quality testing facilities and conducts research aimed at developing methods for analysis of both primary products as well as end products.
Elysium Projects Ltd is an SME based in Bangor, North Wales which carries out research and development and develops associated products in a number of areas. These include electrochemical water treatment systems, sensors and some plant extracts and these relate to either health or environmental applications. EPL has access to appropriate expertise resources as well as analytical and laboratory facilities in the public and private sectors.
EPL will validate the sensitivity, selectivity and ruggedness of the sensors under laboratory conditions and will set up appropriate testing facilities.
The National Institute of Biology, Marine Biology Station (MBS) is the only research group in Slovenia devoted to maritime scientific research and professional work. Collaborating with high calibre foreign marine research centres, it represents a national focal point for development in the area of marine research.
MBS core task is the testing of the biosensors in sea water and fish farming and demonstration of impact of pollution on the pelagic ecosystem.
